Chicory Granules vs Powder: What Coffee Blenders Should Order
Granules vs milled powder vs instant chicory — particle size, solubility, and which format fits blending, vending, and food lines.
Three powder-family formats
“Chicory powder” in an email can mean three different industrial products: roasted granules, fine milled roasted powder, or spray-dried instant powder. Ordering the wrong one creates solubility or blend issues on the line.
Roasted granules
Granules (including fine grades around ≤2 mm) are popular for direct coffee blending and some soluble preparations. Particle size is intentional — ask for the cut your blender already validates.
Milled roasted powder
Fine milled powder suits applications that need dispersion and consistent color in dry mixes or food formulas. Mesh should be confirmed before shipment.
Instant (spray-dried) powder
Instant chicory is produced from liquid extract and spray-dried for reconstitution. Choose this when the process needs fast solubility rather than a roast-cube or coarse granule mouthfeel.
